| Honestly, I merely love everyone on this show (except Naenia) and desire them all to be a big ol' happy family. There aren't that many episodes left in the season, but I am starting to wonder how much longer this particular arc can continue. Hopefully the animation upkeep is beingness saved for something big. Better yet, 2 somethings. | ||||

| Something I actually appreciate virtually this series is that the character relationships/interactions accept a way of paying it forwards with how each character interacts with someone else later. It's happened a agglomeration before, but this week - Vanitas was then influenced by Noe'southward relentless optimism, particularly in the catacombs, that he takes it out on him when he makes a k hope to Jeanne that he isn't sure he tin keep. Something he never does. Like I don't purchase for a second that he'southward only telling her all that only considering he knows it's the only way to get her to move forward. Like yeah, the guy is nonetheless super secretive with his true emotions and clearly traumatized when it comes to other people. Only I think these baby steps are withal a far weep from how guarded he was the start couple episodes. I also appreciated Noe direct up telling Jean-Jacques that no one will sympathize his feelings if he doesn't voice them, since that'southward something he knows very well at this point. Every bit far as Astolfo is concerned... I'thousand not really sure how they can wrap his arc upward? That's a lot of deep-seated rage boiling over and I don't remember information technology can be fixed through words inside the next episode or two depending on how long the arc is. Side Notation: Briefly going back to last week'south episode though OH Male child am I concerned for Jeanne as a graphic symbol later on her childhood flashback. Possibly it'southward just my fear of going through a Pandora Hearts-level tragedy again, just I'm going to be so heartbroken if Jeanne is some kind of clone/vessel for the vampire Queen's "rebirth" or whatever. That scene of her in a glass tube thing, her earliest days being a complete mystery ("found" by her adoptive parents), Ruthven "rescuing her" by putting her under his control as an empty tool to be used, the wording of Vanitas' "if it ever comes to that, I'll kill you lot" promise originating from her confessing her fearfulness of "losing herself." Hell even function of Faustina's hair color was giving me bad vibes... Don't exercise this to me Vanitas, I'm already concerned plenty that Johann is secretly working for Ruthven because he has the same verbal aforementioned colour of grey hair as ane of those masked dudes at the Marquis Machina Ball. | ||||

I recollect that this is pretty much already set information technology rock that information technology'll happen. Despite mutual romantic dearest, Vanitas will be forced to kill Jeanne, the only thing nosotros don't know is what "killing her" volition really hateful. Actually killing her? Taking away her memories? Saving her and living a happy catastrophe together? I'1000 not sure where Noe fits in all of this. He'southward got his own affair going on with Domi, and any kind of feelings towards Vanitas I'm pretty much convinced by now that it was merely obviously erstwhile BL-baiting, after seeing where the story is going and then far. Merely he'south supposed to exist the deuteragonist so he will take to play a big office in any choice Vanitas makes.

| Well, I'll be damned if Jeanne didn't just snap that male child like a toothpick Where did that arrogant devil from the first few episodes get? GONE. He is freaking gone. I mean Don't get me incorrect; I similar ALL the sides of Vanitas. I've loved him from the first 2nd he was on screen. But there'south nothing I honey more than seeing a character who tries to close off his heart getting those walls shattered into teeny tiny picayune pieces. | ||||

| Nice ending to this large arc. Not just information technology closed Chloe simply it too made a big affect in the principal bandage. The 1 who might be lacking is Astolfo. Main theme though: Talk about reversing a character or reveal his hidden depths. Vanitas is becoming the opposite of what he acted in the outset cour. This example of bloodsucking didn't feel as sexual every bit the ones from the first cour either and the guy started certain felt a big bear upon when he saw Jeanne's smile if the character from the flashback happened to be the original Vanitas. No idea how it will develop though. Still, that blue mark sure feels like a decease flag for Vanitas and a kind of symbolism of his relationship with vampires in general. | ||||

| Quite the bittersweet ending to the arc. Poor Noé. Based on the new visual, I wonder if information technology will exist focusing more than on how he'southward managing with simply one paw? I wanted to encounter Vanitas' reaction to it but I guess we'll be seeing that next episode
| ||||

| Ngl, I was hoping the thumbnail image would be that very random and rather menacing shot of Murr from the end of the episode haha (I don't quite become why it concluded in that location merely information technology made me laugh - there's no way Murr is actually going to be important, right?!) Not too much to say this week, that was just a actually nice episode to wrap up the arc: (fifty-fifty for characters like Astolfo - I worried earlier that they wouldn't be able to resolve/"salvage" his character in this short a time frame left given all the trauma he has and aye... I retrieve the more unfinished route they went with him still clearly needing help was the best choice). Even so non certain if this is the best career choice for him but hey, family unit legacy I guess lol. And while information technology was pretty expected, everything regarding Chloe's realization that all she wanted was for her family unit to accept her rather than work endlessly for generations to "cure her," was so effective for me. Even more then that this whole endeavor did originally started from a place of "love" - I call back a lot of people can relate to that with family. Regarding Vanitas' flashbacks with Luna, I love that information technology brought it dorsum around to a throwaway joke in the season premiere about him always being common cold. And it seems very purposeful that both Jeanne and Noe have an important role to play when in comes to Vanitas' character arc + him opening up to others given their appearances during that narration. Side note which I think is interesting: I believe No. 71 referred to Luna equally "Father" really in a flashback? I know the Eng dub cast a nonbinary thespian in the role, just I wasn't certain if it was just based on wanting a more androgynous voice blazon (its not like non-binary actors can't play male or female person roles either - Louis' VA is not-binary as well), or trying capture something specific near the character. | ||||

To exist on the safe side I'll put this in spoilers but it's not a major thing (I think): spoiler[Luna says that they have no gender and are fine with any pronoun. 71 refers to them as Begetter and uses male person pronouns while Vanitas(MC) refers to them as Luna and uses female pronouns. The implication is that this is what they wanted from Luna; 71 wants a male parent figure while Vanitas wants a mother figure.] I've yet to lookout the dub so I didn't know Luna'south VA is NB. I think that'southward an interesting choice for the character. When I read the manga I imagined Luna had a double voice like an echo.

Something he and Jeanne share! With Jeanne constantly reminding him that he -- affectionately, of course -- needs to kill her if she loses herself, their whole intertwining of dearest and death is beginning to give me Tristan und Isolde vibes.

| Vanitas' "inspirational" words to Chloe kind of reminded me of the ending to William Goldman'south The Princess Bride (the novel, not the picture show). "And they lived." The most whatever battle-shonen protagonist tin exercise is beat the bad guys and salvage the mean solar day, either physically or metaphysically, just in the stop that's all the same but one day (very literally, in this case). Chloe and Jean-Jacques (since they're both alive! Which is not the same as proverb I'g not 100% down with the total-episode catharsis afterwards a long arc wraps. Information technology's such a drug. Astolpho is still a traumatized wreck, but the villagers are all safe (somehow; I guess this means they weren't illusions), and information technology seems the Paladins also managed to avoid casualties. Jean-Jacques even has enough blood left to endure some classic tsundere slapstick from the queen herself. We're still pretty far on the "optimistic" side of the scale, all things considered, and I am perfectly okay with that. | ||||

| I don't know exactly what it means but aye.... the frame of that sandclock earring sure is scary. As for the rest of the episode information technology was sure was hilarious to see Vanitas and Jeanne reacting to their feelings. It almost felt similar a shojo series due to the focus on dearest and comedy. And then again, the author might have experience with handling based on what I was told about Pandora Hearts. Wonder how Vanitas and Jeanne will human activity the next time they run across each other but I guess Domi's electric current situation will be the focus of the narrative. | ||||

I remember both of these could also exist true, but imo, my understanding is that Vanitas views himself as an unlovable person and unworthy of affection (for any reason) and he copes with that by viewing emotional attachments as a sign of weakness. When they first met, Vanitas mocked and antagonized Jeanne for beingness worried for Luca's safety, lamenting how she had "degraded" from the strong and powerful image of her that he had of her from the stories well-nigh her. At present he'due south in a position where he'due south succumbing to similar feelings. He hates the thought of himself loving anyone considering he feels that it makes him weak, but the just matter he hates more is the thought of anyone loving him in turn. This is why Noe says what he says in the way that he does near the end of the episode. Rather than telling Vanitas outright that he likes him, because he knows that Vanitas might very well react negatively to it, he decides to accept more of a roundabout route to convey his fondness. Judging from his reaction, I call up Vanitas may have understood the intent behind his words.
